Before I begin the final artwork, I need to know what things really look like. I spent time on the coast of Maine with my camera and sketchbooks while I was working on this book.
 

I fell in love with this boat when I saw it and decided to use it in the book. The boat belongs to Jay, the Harbormaster in Freeport, Maine. My family also discovered the lobster at the Haraseeket Restaurant at the harbor. Researching a book can be a tough job. Click on Jay's boat to see more pictures from Maine.
