All About The Moon

I found the poem in my father’s childhood copy of A Child’s Garden of Verses. My Dad loved to sail by the light of the moon. I was a teenager before I was brave enough to join him on one of his night time adventures. We left my siblings and mom behind, which of course, made the trip even more delicious. This book was inspired by the memory of that night, just me and my dad sharing a little bit of moonlight magic. Click on my dad’s book to see  a picture of him sailing when he was a teenager.

In my interpretation of The Moon, the mom and the new baby stay home, while the father and child go on their own moonlight adventure. It is a quiet celebration of their relationship and of the magic of the night.

I create a "sketchy" storyboard to get a taste of how the words and pictures will work together as a picture book.
