SUMMARY
"Bob," Henrietta said, "you
are not a chicken. You are a rooster. You need to stop clucking and learn
how to crow so you can wake up the girls every morning. That's what roosters
do."
Inspired by this bit of advice from Henrietta (a cat), Bob flies the coop
to find his true rooster voice. Along the way he meets a roster of animals
who teach him their own sounds-but unfortunately not the sound he is in
search of. Away from the farm all night long, Bob is greeted early in
the morning by just the right noise. It's Fred, another rooster, who finally
teaches
Bob his proper song. That night, Bob has an urgent reason to try out his
new crow before daybreak-but "cock-a-doodle-doo" may not be
enough to do the trick
