Other Stuff I've Done

From time to time I do "other stuff". Although creating books takes up most of my time, sometimes I am approached to do a project with an organization that I feel strongly about. It is hard for me to not get involved! The following projects are ones that I have been proud to be part of. For more information about these organizations, click to my links section.

Vermont Summer Reading Program

The theme for the Vermont Summer Reading Program 2002 was "Travel Far, Pay No Fare" based on the book by Anne Lindbergh. Vermont libraries offered children special programs and activities that encouraged reading throughout the summer.

I enjoyed creating the illustrations and it was fun to see children around the state wearing their t-shirts. I also enjoyed the thank you notes from librarians. One wrote: "The summer reading graphics are beautiful and 'caught the eye' of all the children...We, the children and I, want to thank you for you inspired illustrations... captured the essence of the theme... thank you"

Vermont Public Radio
Designed by TCP for Vermont Public Radio Artist Mug Series

As an avid listener and supporter of VPR, I was happy to be included among the Vermont artists that they invited to contribute to this collection.

I had fun trying different designs. We finally settled on my "Baaach" mug.

Shelburne Farms

Over the years, I have created illustrations for several of their "Calendar of Events" and t-shirts. If you visit, they will probably give you one of my cow stickers to wear on your chest! We have enjoyed taking friends and family for day trips. My husband and I have also enjoyed staying at the inn. The entire estate is truly a special place and so are the people involved in keeping it alive for the rest of us to share.

Shelburne Farms is a 1,400-acre working farm, national historic site and nonprofit environmental education center. Their mission is to cultivate a conservation ethic by teaching and demonstrating the stewardship of natural and agricultural resources. From May through October they have programs and events. The Farm Barn is amazing, the walking trails are wonderful for all ages and the views and the landscape (on Lake Champlain) are incredible. They also have programs for schools and groups. Save at least a day, if you are in the area. If you are here in the winter, check with the visitor center about sleigh rides.
